Shared Hosting is a great, easy, cheap alternative to get your website online, and is by far the most common hosting option selected by most businesses today. But it does suffer from "Noisy Neighbours", reduced security and PCI compliance issues. At IC-Hosting, we monitor the sites in our environment, and this is not as common an issue as some other providers, but it still comes up from time to time. The most common cause of this is sites that have been hacked in some way.

With the advent of cheaper Private Virtual Servers, we are excited to announce our new range of Private Web Servers. They come with the same hosting control panels that you are used to, such as Plesk, so setting up your website, and getting it online is easy. You get dedicated server resources, better security separation from other users and, because it is your machine, more freedom to install software and change settings than you can get in a shared environment.

But for every pro there is some cons. Because you now have a whole server to yourself, the upkeep, patching and general administration and repairs are up to you. We understand that this is beyond most users, so we offer a cut back managed server package for these types of servers that is limited to basic support, and hosting environment maintenance for a much lower fee than our fully managed package. This is all already available in the service ordering menu, and we can offer once off migration from shared to private servers if you are interested. Just one other note, these servers do offer mail servers capabilities built into the control panel. If you wish to use this, please let us know as we do need to manually setup some magic internet stuff to allow them to email successfully (Reverse DNS to be specific). However, we recommend that you do not use it if you can. Running a mail server is pain, and because the IP address will be sending very few emails, it will take a long time to build up reputation (yeah, reputation is a thing in email), so you will likely find your emails going to Spam on a lot of providers.

As always, if you have any questions or issues, reach out, open a ticket and we are more than happy to assist.
